    It is all about how badly you want to do something .like I wanted to self-publish a book. So I did it. My desire was so strong that no matter what I faced I made sure I tackled it.

    Many people leave school but later on in life, they see a career that they can do. But they don’t have the qualification for it. So they go back to their place of learning. Such is the desire to do something. How strong is your desire? Do you want to sell so badly that you will do anything to sell the product?

    If you want to sell this has to be done. If you are busy during the weekday you can do this during the weekend. Plan your goal and give it your best say 3 months. Don’t make the goal very high or too difficult to achieve.If you set up a goal too high make sure to break it up. Don’t just have deadlines but write it in front of your bed so that you see it the first thing in the morning. So say how many units you want to sell. 

    Planning

    It is important to plan. Say you are selling shoes. Plan in which part of India you want to sell first . Say you want to sell in Delhi rather than Agra and so on. Also look at what companies sell the most in each city and plan to go there. For example, rainy shoes are needed so go before the rains to sell .

    Believe in yourself and you can do wonders.

    Remove the word impossible from your dictionary. For others to believe in you, you have to believe in yourself. Chapter 3 is the most important chapter in the book. Read this once in three months so as not to forget. But more importantly, practice what you have read. After all, practice makes perfect.

    Donot fear change 

    Change does not mean it will be for the worst. Don’t do things how they have always been done.If you have a plan to sell that has not been tried before do try it. You never know it might be a success.

    Build your confidence

    In order to sell you have to build your confidence . Here are some pointers on what to do.

    Try not to make excuses. if you do not succeed at something. Do not say I am old or things like that. Say I can still do it despite failure.

    How do you see yourself? Look at yourself in the mirror. Do you see a successful person? If you do so will others. Feel proud of yourself.

    Improve your appearance. This is true of women. Women feel better if they go to a hairdresser before a party . If you feel this will boost your confidence then do it. For men get a dinner jacket if going out. I am sure you will know of so many such examples.

    Are you an enthusiastic person?If you are excited about something you will end up doing that thing better.. Were you not better at Maths in school because you were excited about Maths?

    Linked to all this is being negative.

    As a professional, you must take care of attitude. Negativity is a curse in anything. People might say negative things about you . Listen from one ear and remove it from the other. There are three negative things that you have to take care of criticizing, condemning, and complaining. Make sure you don’t fall into the trap of these .

    Many people thrive on other peoples’ misery. So don’t listen to them.

    Also look at what kind of company you have. Are your results a drawback because of them?

    The chapter called The Principles of professionalism is excellent. Even if you think you are professional this chapter will tell you you are not.

    A few basic guidelines to make written communication better are given in the chapter on letter writing. Things like Avoid jargon Make your letters easy to read and many more tips are given.

    What should your body language be? What kind of chairs do you have for your visitors? If a client comes to your office these things are important.

    The last chapter is the most important. Donot quit, it is called. Everybody in marketing has its ups and downs. Look at your downside and try to improve.

    I am not into fitness . But I picked this book up because of a friend. I used to  see her join the gym and then quit. She is a close friend . This happened too many times.So i thought let me read this book and help her.

    This book was written after the authors had researched  more then 100 fitness centres across India.The research involved engagement Enrollment patterns and things like that. With so much research behind them, how could they go wrong.

    Why do people do fitness for a while and then leave it ?

    • No passion
    • No motivation
    • Setting unrealistic goals

    If your body makes you feel better would you not want to continue to do the fitness regime.

    What I got from this book.

    1.It takes time to adopt a habit .

    2.Find out what helps you stay motivated.

    3. How to maintain a habit.

    If you agree to the above then this is the book for you.

    There is an exercise in this book which will help you understand your relationship with fitness.

    This is important, otherwise how will you know if you have any relationship with fitness.

    Awareness

    In order to build a exercise regime you have to know your present state of health. How healthy are you ? You might think you are healthy just because you go for a walk. Once you do realize that you are unhealthy you yourself will want to make fitness a habit. Again there is a small activity that will help you understand your fitness level .

    Find your why

    You will want to find out why you want to be fit. Is it because everyone around you is trying to be fit? You should want to be fit because you want it not because everyone is trying. Makes sense doesn’t it ?There is a small activity that will help you discover your why.

    In case you want to start on a fitness routine, go slow. In case you try to do a lot of exercise or train a lot you will find it boring. Also your body will get used to any fitness regime in a slow manner. Your body might tear itself out if you do too many things all at once with your body.

    Consistency is important in forming any habit .So do exercise daily according to your regime.There is an exercise to maintain this consistency.

    Anything will be interesting when you add an element of fun in it. Try not to make fitness a struggle . Try music while exercising .For example Zumba uses music. The tempo of people doing Zumba is high when doing it with music. Try doing something in a group but remember to go at your own pace.

    Try doing various exercises and change it daily . That way it  does not become dull and boring.It will be just a sweat secession but something you will look forward to when you wake up.

    Planning before performance

    If you plan anything it is likely that you will finish it. With a plan in place you will perform the routine. So plan but keep chaining the plan so as not to make it boring.Plan  would include keeping water and the like.Do you have a plan ?

    Declutter your Cue

    Wondering what is cue ?

    Simply put  cue is the trigger that initiates a behaviour and says that if we do certain things we will get a reward.

    For example if you eat your pre  workout meal and miss on it due to reaching home late then decide if you want to eat the meal or go for a workout. I know all these things sound complained but Rome was not built in a day . Even your habits will take time to build.

    Secret 7 

    Prepare your environment

    If You need to take a bottle to the gym, do it. If you need to take a small towel then do that. In this manner you are comfortable in your environment. This will help you form a habit.

    Secret 8

    Evaluate your progress

    Whenever you start anything new you will have to see how well you are doing.

    If you are not doing well you will want to have a strategy .

    The best part about this book is that he has given small activities which I feel that will benefit people.

    When I found out that the author is part of ISKON I didn’t want to read this book. The reason being I am not a religious person. Then I thought let me start reading the book, if I don’t like it I can always stop reading it.

    But am I glad that I picked this book. How is this book different from other such books? Only one thing. He uses real-life experiences to explain things. At the end of every chapter, there is a summary which is good since we just need to remember the important points. After reading the book you will know how to balance between personal life and work life

    There are four parts to the book.

    1. Personal life

    2. Relationship

    3. Worklife

    4. Social contribution

    What i learned from this book

    1. Dont let negativity come to your mind. True, problems are there. One should always think that there are people worse off than you. Just walk into a hospital. I am sure you will find people worse off than yourself. Next there are people who don’t have money to get treated. You might have money to get treated. If in any difficult situation think : This too shall pass.

    2. Gratitude is the key to remaining positive and happy. Be grateful for the small things in life. We always look at the bigger picture. Gopal’s daughter was diagnosed with cancer. On the day of her birthday, she was sad that she was in the hospital and could not celebrate her birthday. So her room was decorated. Small things matter in life

    3. Believe me we all have inner strength. Use it to remove negativity. Is there any positive situation in the situation you are in?

    4. The eyes are the windows to the world. What or how we perceive a particular situation is up to us.

    5. Don’t ever treat non-living in a bad manner. The reason being insensitivity could become our general attitude.

    Till now I was talking about the first two parts of the book.

    Now comes the part the interesting part :Work life

    1. We always keep on seeing what others are better. We are always in competition with others . You should not compete with others but with others. I am author of a book. So i don’t see how many books stephen king has. I look at how i can improve my writing.

    I have decided to write every day, practice makes perfect.

    2. Ever heard of the Japanese word Ikigai?It means a reason to live. There are four traits we need to look into or understand.

    What do we love?

    What are we good at?

    What does the world need?

    What can we be paid for?

    If you are older and have not yet figured out the purpose of life then love what you have to do and do what you have to do.

    This is just the tip of the iceberg. The fourth is about social contribution. There is so much I have learned from this book and applied it to my life. What is in this book should be applied. When reading the book you might find things that are important to you but not to me so I did not give in the review.
