What could this be ? A shop . No. It is a night circus.

The circus has black and white striped canvas tent.  It is called Le Cirque des Rêves,

The book is about illusion. At the same time it is a magical fantasy. The scene opens with a girl being left at the circus. Her name is Celia. She is being trained in Magic. It is narrative in nature.

Plot is straight forward. There are two magicians Both the magicians fall in love with each other .But.they are meant to be competing against one another,The young magicians are called Celia and Marco.

Many people used to join the circus which was a refuge for people with unique abilities. The setting is London.

Hector trains his daughter Celia. The man in the gray suit chooses an orphan. He is called Marco Alisdar. The duel is between the two magicians. Celia is a kind hearted soul .After Hector dies she gets an envelope”Your Move”. Hmm . Wonder what that is .

There are other characters also .Frederick Thiessen is sen as the maker of clocks. Later on he becomes entwined with the circus.Isobel Martin is another character who is a fortune teller for the circus.

Meanwhile theatrical impresario Chandresh Christophe Lefevre has a new idea.she thinks a traveling circus which will tour around the world, is better off than a stationary circus. Writing is gorgeous.  It is written in second person. The  book is unique. The description of the tents are worth a mention.  The imagination is good. When I read this novel it is like a dream. There is romance which will swipe you off your feet. .In the bookt the years keep on shifting from back and forth.. The book will cast a spell over you. The book is narrative in nature.

  • Life amazing secrets :How to find balance and purpose in your life. By Gaur Gopal Das.

When I found out that the author is part of ISKON I didn’t want to read this book. The reason being I am not a religious person. Then I thought let me start reading the book, if I don’t like it I can always stop reading it.

But am I glad that I picked this book. How is this book different from other such books? Only one thing. He uses real-life experiences to explain things. At the end of every chapter, there is a summary which is good since we just need to remember the important points. After reading the book you will know how to balance between personal life and work life

There are four parts to the book.

    1. Personal life

    2. Relationship

    3. Worklife

    4. Social contribution

What i learned from this book

    1. Dont let negativity come to your mind. True, problems are there. One should always think that there are people worse off than you. Just walk into a hospital. I am sure you will find people worse off than yourself. Next there are people who don’t have money to get treated. You might have money to get treated. If in any difficult situation think : This too shall pass.

    2. Gratitude is the key to remaining positive and happy. Be grateful for the small things in life. We always look at the bigger picture. Gopal’s daughter was diagnosed with cancer. On the day of her birthday, she was sad that she was in the hospital and could not celebrate her birthday. So her room was decorated. Small things matter in life

    3. Believe me we all have inner strength. Use it to remove negativity. Is there any positive situation in the situation you are in?

    4. The eyes are the windows to the world. What or how we perceive a particular situation is up to us.

    5. Don’t ever treat non-living in a bad manner. The reason being insensitivity could become our general attitude.

Till now I was talking about the first two parts of the book.

Now comes the part the interesting part :Work life

    1. We always keep on seeing what others are better. We are always in competition with others . You should not compete with others but with others. I am author of a book. So i don’t see how many books stephen king has. I look at how i can improve my writing.

I have decided to write every day, practice makes perfect.

    2. Ever heard of the Japanese word Ikigai? It means a reason to live. There are four traits we need to look into or understand.

    What do we love?

    What are we good at?

    What does the world need?

What can we be paid for?

If you are older and have not yet figured out the purpose of life then love what you have to do and do what you have to do.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. The fourth is about social contribution. There is so much I have learned from this book and applied it to my life. What is in this book should be applied. When reading the book you might find things that are important to you but not to me so I did not give in the review.

  • The Star and the shamrock By Jean Grainger

Courage and determination are two pillars of any given life. We need these two when we are dealing with covid

I found a book recently dealing with courage. We all have witnessed or read what Hilter did.

Image your kids are in danger. Would you risk everything? I would.

Ariella Bannon had married a jew. But peter her husband disappeared one day. He is believed to be dead. The Jewish community watched in horror as Hilter leased a reign of terror on the jews. Liesl and Erich are Ariella’s children. She is scared for them and for herself. Then she remembered that Peter had a cousin in Liverpool.

A family friend arranges for them to leave on Kindertranport.
But she could not find words to tell the children all this. Crying she put the photos of herself and Peter in the suitcase.

Every Jews dreaded the knock on the door. It meant that you had done something wrong and could be taken away.
Imagine what she must have felt as she decides that the children must go to Elizabeth.

If you were told to go to a country with new customs and language, would you not find that frightening. Liesel and Erich felt the same way when they found out that they were to live with Elizabeth.. But I got inspiration from all this.

The children came and started living with Elizabeth. Slowly but surely the children got adjuted to life in Liverpool.

The story is touching and to be read.
